Tunisian Technical Centers and Export Challenge to Africa

Laboratories, testing, technical assistance, training, quality, innovation, and expertise have supported several generations of businesses. In the same time, African economies are seeking expertise in these same areas. The challenge is now to better organize the international opening of this expertise, without undermining the national missions of the centers or the career paths of their experts. It is especially about transforming a capital of expertise into a lever for cooperation, innovation, and economic influence. This approach could be expanded to other Tunisian structures with complementary expertise, particularly in telecommunications and digital fields. Tunisia has eight sector-specific industrial technical centers: Cetiba: Technical Center for the Wood and Furniture Industry; Cetime: Technical Center for Mechanical and Electrical Industries; CTC: Technical Center for Chemistry; Cettex: Technical Center for Textiles; CNCC: National Center for Leather and Footwear; CTAA: Technical Center for Agro-food Industries; CTMCCV: Technical Center for Construction Materials, Ceramics, and Glass; Packtec: Technical Center for Packaging and Conditioning. Their value lies not only in equipment and laboratories, but especially in the accumulated expertise of their engineers, technicians, and specialists through direct contact with businesses.
