Relocating from France to Tunisia costs between €2,500 and €7,000 depending on volume. A 20-foot container (33 cubic meters) from Marseille to Tunis costs €2,500 to €4,500 including port fees; a 40-foot container rises to €5,500-€7,000. Groupage (shared container) splits the bill in half if you have less than 15 cubic meters: expect €150 to €250 per cubic meter. Departures mainly from Marseille, Genoa, and Barcelona, with a 3 to 7-day journey. Book two months in advance in summer: prices soar by 30% in July-August. Request a detailed quote (packing, insurance, customs clearance included or not).
Customs duty exemption and FCR regime Tunisians returning permanently benefit from the FCR exemption: personal effects and furniture are exempted under conditions (valued inventory, proof of residence for at least one year). The vehicle follows a separate regime, more taxed: get it valued beforehand. Prepare: passport, consular card, duplicate inventory, receipts for valuable items. An approved customs broker in Radès or La Goulette expedites customs clearance (48 hours to 5 days).
Storage: in Paris or Tunis? A 10-cubic-meter unit costs €80 to €150 per month in Île-de-France against 100 to 250 Tunisian dinars per month in Tunis. If your Tunisian accommodation is not ready, storing on-site costs three times less. Check fire and theft insurance and 7/7 access. Tip for diaspora: sell electrical appliances in France (220V compatible, but expensive to transport) and buy new in Tunis or Sfax during sales. Only valuable furniture and memorabilia justify a container.
J-90: Moving quotes, thorough sorting, FCR file.

J-7: Suitcases, original documents with you, keys handed over.
On arrival: customs clearance, STEG/SONEDE meter installation, register at the French consulate if needed, and welcome home!
