Tunisia, facing persistent drought, is taking decisive measures to secure its water resources. Minister Ezzeddine Ben Cheikh revealed ambitious projects aimed at combating desalination and strengthening hydraulic infrastructure. These initiatives come amid a growing climate crisis threatening agriculture and the population. Priority investments include the construction of new desalination units and the improvement of distribution networks. According to initial data, more than 150 million dinars will be mobilized to modernize desalination plants, while 500 million dinars will optimize irrigation networks. These measures aim to ensure a stable supply for agricultural operations, often affected by recurring droughts. The ministry is closely collaborating with the European Union to accelerate these projects, with a total cost potentially reaching 500 million cubic meters of water per year by 2025. In parallel, awareness campaigns encourage farmers to adopt sustainable practices. The minister emphasizes the necessity of rational water management, a critical issue for food security and the country's economic stability.
