Presidential Budget Up 8% in 2027

Tunisia's presidential budget is set to rise by 8% in 2027, according to the latest official data. Salaries for civil servants and staff occupy the top budget line, with an allocation of 179 million dinars, up from 168 million in 2026. This increase raises questions about the management of public resources in the context of an economic crisis. Salary expenses represent more than 70% of the budget allocated to the presidency. This rise comes amid social tensions and budgetary difficulties in Tunisia. Authorities must balance the needs of public services with the expectations of Tunisians amid persistent inflation and fragile economic growth. Experts note that this trend reflects both rising personnel costs and a desire to stabilize key staffing levels. However, the scale of the increase raises questions about the transparency of spending and the prioritization of investments in key sectors for economic recovery.
