In Mauritania, cancer claims hundreds of lives each year. To break the taboo, NGOs and civil society actors organized a sensitization march on Thursday, October 23, in Nouakchott, coupled with a free screening day.
The initiative was led by the NGO Sauvons une Vie, which aims to encourage women to get screened in a timely manner. Hundreds responded to the call, especially during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
