⚠️ Urgent Information — Flash Radio is following the development of this situation in real time. This photo was taken by a French photographer (Cliché Vaguer) in the 1960s at the Muslim cemetery of Ferryville, now known as Menzel Bourguiba, showing two young girls in front of the tomb of a martyr who died during the Bizerte War in 1961. We thank our colleague and collaborator, Abdellatif Ben Salem, for sending this photo. ⏱️ 1 minute read. The facts and recent developments: He found it a few years ago at a Paris antiquarian shop and purchased it for its historical value. The martyr whose tomb is in the photo is named Mokhtar Ben Amor Ayari, born on November 6, 1934, and died under fire from French soldiers on July 19, 1961. He was 27 years old and answered the call to duty, like hundreds of other Tunisian martyrs in this war, which could have been avoided if Tunisian and French officials at the time had spoken not of their grievances but of reason. ⚡ Key Points ▸ This photo was taken by a French photographer (Cliché Vaguer) in the 1960s at the Muslim cemetery of Ferryville, now known as Menzel Bourguiba, showing two young girls in front of the tomb of a martyr who died during the Bizerte War in 1961. ▸ He was 27 years old and answered the call to duty, like hundreds of other Tunisian martyrs in this war, which could have been avoided if Tunisian and French officials at the time had spoken not of their grievances but of reason. ▸ The martyr whose tomb is in the photo is named Mokhtar Ben Amor Ayari, born on November 6, 1934, and died under fire from French soldiers on July 19, 1961.
