An unprecedented artistic collaboration between Tunisia and Switzerland took place through ceramic workshops and conferences, marking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Swiss ceramicist Tessa Donati, associated with artist Alberto Giacometti, organized creative sessions at El Houch Concept Store (Djerba) and Cnca Sidi Kacem Jélizi (Tunis), while also hosting conferences at ISBAS and ISBAN. These exchanges fostered intense dialogue between artists and students, blending techniques, gestures, and artistic visions.
The visit of Tessa Donati fits within the tradition of Settimana della lingua italiana nel mondo, with a particular emphasis on the valorization of Tunisian and Swiss craftsmanship. Three plaster works by Giacometti, exhibited in Tunisia, served as the starting point for these workshops, where the artist shared his methods and inspired participants. This cultural cooperation highlights the richness of exchanges between the two countries, rooted in mutual respect and a shared artistic growth mindset. The project brought together artists, students, and enthusiasts, creating an environment conducive to learning and the transmission of skills. These encounters, marked by an open-minded approach, underscore the importance of the arts as a bridge between cultures.
