Good News — Flash Radio shares this positive update with you. Tunisia is facing persistent delays in its digital transformation and green economy development, despite significant initiatives and efforts. Bassem Thabti, a digital transformation expert, highlights a lack of concrete implementation and structural obstacles.
Since 2016, Tunisia has launched several digital initiatives, such as the National Digitization Plan, but progress remains slow. The absence of coordination between public and private actors, as well as logistical challenges, explain this stagnation. In the Mediterranean context, where countries like Spain and Turkey are accelerating their green transition, Tunisia risks falling behind. Circular economy, in particular, lacks replicable models, limiting its adoption by local businesses. The situation reflects a gap between political ambitions and on-the-ground realities. As the European Union and other countries heavily invest in AI and sustainability, Tunisia struggles to mobilize sufficient resources. Private actors, although engaged, await a clearer regulatory framework to fully participate. This delay threatens not only economic competitiveness but also the country's ability to address climate and technological challenges. By 2027, Tunisia is expected to enter a critical phase to accelerate its transition. The National Plan 2026-2030 could become a decisive lever, provided structural obstacles are overcome.
